Shubhendu stirs controversy again with a religious comment saying:

Train hijacked with Pakistani passengers, threat of explosion, six Pakistani soldiers killed.

Jadavpur University is tense again as Om Prakash enters and slogans erupt; police enter campus.

On the fake voter card issue, the TMC delegation will meet the Election Commission today; the BJP will reach before them.

Land dispute leads to tension in Chopra; at least six injured in clash between two groups.

TMC’s “surgical strike” is causing cracks in Shubhendu’s camp before the 26th. March

The accusation of religious politics against BJP is not new. Their main foundation is based on religious polarization, which is largely proven today. The ruling BJP in the country is accused of being anti-minority. Counter-allegations come from many non-BJP parties, including the Left Front, TMC, and Congress.

Amid all this, Opposition Leader Shubhendu Adhikari has made another controversial religious comment in the political battle. He said, “The main Muslim MLAs of theirs, meaning TMC, will win—we will throw them out on the streets by their collars.”

On Tuesday, the opposition BJP brought a proposal in the Assembly alleging communal unrest. The opposition leader had demanded discussion, but Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected it as irrelevant. Agitated BJP MLAs started protesting inside the Assembly with posters and banners and threw papers. The Speaker said these actions were not allowed, after which they walked out and continued their protest outside the Assembly gate.

Speaking to journalists outside, Shubhendu Adhikari made the controversial statement. After warning that Mamata Banerjee would lose from Bhowanipore and Biman Banerjee would lose from West Baruipur in the 26th election, he said, “We will defeat them anyway, and when BJP comes to power, those few Muslim MLAs who win from their party, we will throw them out on the streets by their collars.”

Shubhendu Adhikari announced he will hold a meeting in Speaker Biman Banerjee’s area, West Baruipur, on March 19th, where political preparations to defeat the Speaker will begin.

Regarding this threat, the Speaker’s brief response was, “Welcome, I will personally arrange the stage and microphone system.”

Tension had been brewing between Haldia’s BJP MLA and Tamluk’s MP for quite some time, with both publicly speaking against each other. This conflict intensified after Tapasi Mondal joined TMC.

Tapasi Mondal said, “He came from outside, became a candidate, won, and then got into conflicts with MLAs and district presidents.” Abhijit Ganguly chimed in, saying, “The garbage has now gone to the dump.”

Haldia’s MLA Tapasi Mondal claims that BJP’s divisive politics is the main reason behind her leaving BJP to join TMC. She said, “We are seeing how divisive politics is happening on progressive Bengal’s soil, and the people of Bengal have rejected this divisive politics.”

Many counter-question: Hasn’t BJP walked the path of hardcore Hindutva politics from its birth until today? What did BJP do new today that shocked Tapasi Mondal? When she joined BJP in 2019, didn’t she know what kind of politics BJP practices?

One of the main reasons behind Tapasi Mondal’s party switch is her dispute with Tamluk BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly, which recently reached an extreme. On February 16th, there was a meeting of RSS’s labor organization Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh in Haldia, where Bharatiya Janata Mazdoor Cell, or BJMC, a separate labor organization created on MLA Tapasi Mondal’s initiative, was not invited. This escalated the conflict between BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly and BJP MLA Tapasi Mondal to its peak.

Tamluk’s BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly said, “There are efforts to break those who depend on BMS and take them to the so-called BJMC, which is being done at the initiative of one or two leaders of our party and local people. I have forbidden this. This is a fraudulent organization.”

In Pakistan’s Balochistan border, a train was hijacked with passengers. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist organization in Pakistan, hijacked the train. The Pakistani government considers this organization a terrorist group. Over a hundred of the 500 passengers have been taken hostage by the BLA, including Pakistani soldiers and ordinary people.

The Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the train hijacking. Several Pakistani soldiers are on the train. The train was hijacked by placing explosives on the railway track. Some passengers were injured in the shooting. The BLA has threatened to blow up the entire train if a military operation is launched to rescue the hostages.

Six Pakistani soldiers have been killed in the clash, according to the Baloch Liberation Army. On Tuesday, the BLA hijacked the Jaffar Express in Balochistan’s Bolan district. There are reportedly about 500 passengers on the train, all of whom have been taken hostage by the BLA. They have announced that if the Pakistani army conducts an operation, they will detonate explosives and blow up the train.

The train was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to news agency Reuters. The train was first fired upon and then hijacked. Pakistani media Dawn has reported that there were about 500 passengers in the train’s nine cars.

A spokesperson for the Balochistan provincial government, Sahed Ren, has said that the train was hijacked between Baher Kundri and Gadlar. A barrage of gunfire was directed at the train, forcing the driver to stop. The Pakistani government has declared an emergency at Sebi Hospital in Balochistan, and ambulances have been dispatched to the scene. Additional troops are also being sent.

Army and air force helicopters have started circling in the sky, but the area where the train is being held hostage is a mountainous region that is difficult to reach. More trains have been deployed near the area to facilitate rescue operations. The Balochistan provincial government has appealed to the general public to maintain peace and avoid listening to rumors at this time.

An emergency has been declared in government hospitals, with all leaves canceled and all doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff ordered to report to hospitals. Sindh’s Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar has strongly condemned the incident, stating, “This heinous anti-national behavior and anti-social mentality will not be allowed to grow.” He also claims that passengers have been injured in the shooting.

After nine days of deadlock since March 1st, Jadavpur University authorities held a meeting about the situation. Meanwhile, the university campus became tense again when International Relations professor Om Prakash Mishra, a member of the TMC-influenced professors’ organization WBCUPA, arrived at his office Monday morning.

Students began protesting as soon as he entered the department. The situation became tense again as SFI and AIDSO students started demonstrations. Om Prakash Mishra opened the door lock himself, tore down posters, and entered the office while students were protesting with placards.

As he entered, he said, “I request all my students to kindly go to my office. Kindly let me go to my office. I request my students. I am a teacher of long standing. Kindly let me in the office.” At that moment, tension began to build in the protest.

At that very time, numerous plainclothes police entered the university campus. SFI raised questions about why police were in the educational institution and where they were on the day of the incident. On the other hand, a TMCP representative stated, “We have no organizational objection if police enter for security. If the administration feels someone needs security, we have no problem with police presence.”

Regarding this matter, Professor Om Prakash Mishra said he did not call the police. He further said, “These are our students. I have no dispute with them. Those who complained have gone to the High Court. The High Court has taken up the case, and the police are investigating.”

Meanwhile, a new case has been filed in the Calcutta High Court regarding the Jadavpur incident. The plaintiff alleges that police are harassing Jadavpur students by repeatedly calling them in for questioning. Earlier, on March 7th, students were summoned and appeared. They allege that their mobile phones were requested, which they objected to. Since then, there have been attempts to harass the students.

Police have summoned them again on Monday. A student member of SFI named Uddipon Kunjo filed a petition in the High Court for an urgent hearing. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh, after the case was filed, directed it to be mentioned again on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the state’s two major opposing parties are approaching the Election Commission over the fake voter card issue. A delegation of 10 TMC MPs will visit the Election Commission, while the BJP will also visit. TMC had already announced that they are not satisfied with the Commission’s three-month timeframe, so they are approaching the Chief Election Commissioner to know about the entire matter.

A team of 10 MPs, including Rajya Sabha leader Derek O’Brien and MP Kalyan Banerjee, will meet Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at 5:30 PM on Tuesday. AITC has also decided to raise the voter card issue in Parliament on the same day.

It’s clear from the body language of BJP leaders that their discomfort has increased due to TMC’s voter card issue. To escape this discomfort, BJP is planning to approach the Commission before TMC today. According to Bengal BJP sources, the state president and Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar will lead a BJP delegation to the Commission at 4:30 PM, one hour before TMC.

North Dinajpur’s Chopra became tense again Tuesday, centered around a land dispute. At least six people from both sides were injured in a clash in Chetunagach village of Daspara Gram Panchayat. It was learned that there was a dispute over ancestral land between the families of Jakir Hossain and Samir Uddin in that village. A case is ongoing in court regarding this, and several mediation meetings have also been held.

The conflict started when one party tried to take possession of the disputed land. Six people from both sides were injured in the clash and sent to the Dolua Block Health Center. Police from Chopra police station’s Daspara outpost arrived at the scene after receiving news and brought the situation under control.

TMC’s “surgical strike” is causing cracks in Shubhendu’s camp before the 26th. However, it’s not just Tapasi Mondal who is worrying Bengal BJP before the election. There are reports that at least five to seven more MLAs have one foot toward TMC and could change parties any day. The central leadership is concerned about Bengal BJP’s situation and is reportedly planning to hold a meeting soon.

BJP’s worry has increased in a strong northern area. Darjeeling’s MLA Bishnu Prasad Sharma has been vocal about the demand for a separate state for the hills for quite some time. This has caused him to face questions within the party on various occasions. Due to the unfulfilled demand, he could become a thorn in the throat of the saffron camp in the upcoming Assembly elections. Bishnu Prasad has already threatened to leave the party.

“I cannot firmly say that the Darjeeling MLA will not change parties right now,” says the BJP leadership. Not just Bishnu Prasad, but North Dinajpur’s Kaliyaganj MLA Soumen Roy is also a concern for BJP regarding party switching. He is known in the area as a loyal follower of BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Ananta Maharaj. After winning in the 2021 election, Soumen had joined TMC. After Ananta was sent to Rajya Sabha by the saffron camp, Soumen returned to BJP before the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

However, recently Ananta Maharaj has been voicing anti-BJP sentiments. In such a situation, political circles are not sure whether his loyal soldier Soumen will also switch parties or not.
